Talking to Kids About the Coronavirus

Widespread reporting and potential misinformation about Coronavirus can be anxiety-provoking for many, but especially for children/teens and those who struggle with anxiety. It’s important to have developmentally-appropriate conversations utilizing facts with your child/teen about the coronavirus and minimize sensationalized, long-term media exposure. We support the field’s best-practices and talking points recently published by Child Mind Institute (CMI) on talking to kids about Coronavirus (see here). If you need further consultation about how to best speak with your child or have concerns regarding your child’s anxiety, please talk to your therapist.
